Management Team

Active is led by an experienced team of industry leaders whose direction, marketplace expertise and strong understanding of customer needs have resulted in exceptional growth and success.

Dave Alberga, Chief Executive Officer

Dave Alberga

Dave Alberga has overseen the executive management team for Active Network since 1999. Over this time the company has grown from zero to over $280M in 2010 annual revenue and has become the leading provider of organization-based cloud computing applications.

Prior to joining Active Network, Alberga headed operations for the CityGuide portion of Ticketmaster Online-CitySearch Inc., a leading portal and transaction company and now an operating business of IAC/InterActiveCorp (NASDAQ: IACI). In his three years at Ticketmaster Online-CitySearch, Alberga held positions of increasing responsibility including general manager of CitySearch City Guides, executive vice president and chief operating officer. Ticketmaster career highlights include successfully leading local management teams in 35 markets while overseeing operating and reporting procedures for each field organization, and participating in raising private and public equity for CitySearch. Additional experience includes senior management positions with Linear Technology Corporation and Silicon Valley Technology (SVT), as well as consulting and brand management at the Boston Consulting Group and Procter & Gamble Company.

Alberga holds Master of Business Administration and Master of Arts degrees from Stanford University. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in general engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Matt Landa, President

Landa heads all operations including strategy, sales, professional services, technology and financial execution. Landa has led Active Network’s operations from a start-up company with less than 50 employees in 1999 to more than 2,600 employees at the end of 2009. Landa has expanded Active Network from a technology start-up focused on running and triathlons to the leader across all things people do – hunting and fishing, camping, corporate events, park and recreation agencies, community centers, endurance sports, team sports, tennis, swimming, golf and camps. Through his leadership, Active Network has become the de facto technology solution for organizations that host activities or events and the destination site for consumers to find, register for and engage with things they love to do.

Formerly president and chief executive officer of Silicon Valley-based CMC Industries, Landa was credited with driving the electronics manufacturer's growth from approximately $140 million in sales in 1995 to over $300 million in 1998. After merging with ACT Manufacturing in 1999, he served as president of the new company until March 2000. Prior to CMC Industries, Landa was chief operating officer of Silicon Valley Technology (SVT), a high-volume manufacturer of electronics products.

Additional experience includes serving as an associate of Monitor Company, a strategic consulting firm based in Cambridge, Mass. Landa holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Dartmouth College with concentrations in engineering and economics.

Scott Mendel, Chief Financial Officer

Mendel is responsible for Active Network’s corporate finance, accounting and investor relations functions.

Prior to joining Active Network, Mendel worked for General Electric (GE) for over 20 years in senior roles that drove financial results. In his most recent position, chief financial officer for GE’s Healthcare IT division, he led a 150-person global finance function and headed-up the financial due diligence and integration of a $1.2 billion acquisition in 2006.

Mendel received his undergraduate degree in finance from Indiana University and his Master of Business Administration degree from Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management.

Darko Dejanovic, Chief Technology, Product and Innovation Officer

Darko Dejanovic serves as Chief Technology, Product and Innovation Officer of Active Network. In this role Dejanovic oversees global product design and management, innovation, research and development and information technology. In addition, Dejanovic is responsible for consumer businesses including online and offline media sales.

Prior to joining Active Network, Dejanovic served for four years as the EVP, global CIO and head of product at Monster Worldwide, where he was responsible for global IT strategy, operations and development, product innovation and design, as well as consumer advertising businesses. Previously he held CTO roles for more than a decade at the Tribune Company and its subsidiary, Tribune Publishing Company. Earlier in his career, Dejanovic held various senior technology roles in the U.S. and Europe. He holds an MBA from Northwestern University and a B.S. in Computer Science from Florida Metropolitan University.

Matt Ehrlichman, Chief Strategy Officer

Ehrlichman is responsible for strategic direction and profit and loss performance of Active Network’s technology business. Ehrlichman leads the 10 general managers of Active Network’s technology business units and is responsible for establishing Active Network as the leader in each of its markets. In addition, Ehrlichman heads technology growth and earnings goals, marketing operations, business development, international operations, and mergers and acquisitions. Ehrlichman joined Active Network in the start of 2007.

Prior to joining the company, Ehrlichman was co-founder and chief executive officer of Thriva, which was acquired by the Active Network in March 2007. Thriva, headquartered in Seattle, Wash., provided registration and management applications to the event, camp, education and league markets. During the four years prior to joining Active Network, Ehrlichman helped Thriva grow from seven employees and approximately $750,000 in revenue to more than 65 employees and over $14 million in revenue.

Ehrlichman attended Stanford University where he received both his Bachelor of Science degree in entrepreneurial engineering and Master of Science degree in management science and engineering.

Sheryl Roland, Executive Vice President of Human Resources

Roland brings over 25 years experience in human resources and is responsible for overseeing all of the Active Network’s global HR functions including recruitment, retention, benefits and training for the company’s nearly 2,600 worldwide employees.

Prior to joining the Active Network, Roland was senior vice president, human resources and administration, of Visual Sciences, Inc. (formerly WebSideStory, Inc.) where she was responsible for human resources, payroll, administration and facilities. While there, she implemented strategic initiatives domestically and abroad, including the development and implementation of HR strategies that impacted staffing, retention and performance improvement. Additionally, Roland played a key role in the integration of two company acquisitions and served on the senior management team that took WebSideStory public. Roland has also held senior level human resources positions at The Upper Deck Company, Taco Bell Corporate, GE/Calma and Encad, Inc.

Roland holds a Master of Science degree in counseling psychology from San Jose State University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from University of California, Los Angeles.

Kourosh Vossoughi, Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Business Development

Vossoughi is responsible for the company’s legal affairs, providing legal counsel for the company’s acquisitions, financings, commercial contracts, securities law compliance, intellectual property, employment and litigation matters, and general legal and business advice to the company’s board and executive management team.

Prior to joining Active Network, Vossoughi practiced corporate/securities law for two years at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison, one of the nation’s leading technology law firms. From 1996 to 1998, Vossoughi practiced corporate/securities law at Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps, San Diego’s oldest and largest law firm.

Vossoughi graduated second in his class from University of San Diego, School of Law, and is a member of the California Bar Association. He also holds a bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, in neurobiology with a minor in business administration from University of California at Berkeley.

Kevin Biggs, Executive Vice President of Global Technology Sales

Kevin Biggs is the executive vice president of global technology sales at Active Network. As such, Biggs leads the Company’s global technology sales organization spanning more than 25 offices worldwide.

Prior to joining Active Network, Biggs was responsible for all sales and support functions at Blue Coat Systems, Inc., a leading provider of SaaS security systems, as the senior vice president of worldwide field operations. In that role, Biggs helped to grow company revenues from $165M to just under $500M while also scaling the organization to over 670 employees. Before that, Biggs worked for IBM Corporation where he held several sales executive roles within multiple divisions. In his position as the worldwide sales leader for new customer acquisitions for IBM’s Software Division, Biggs was tasked with accelerating revenue growth from new customers, emerging markets and under-performing regions. Prior to that, as the vice president of worldwide sales for IBM’s Data Management Division, Biggs led a global sales team of 2000+ sales and technical personnel with an annual revenue objective of $3.8 billion.

He holds a BA in Economics and Mathematics from Drury University.
