Active Network Blog Follows Tour de France Action with Exclusive Commentary and Behind-the-Scenes Access

Tour Trivia Contest Includes Daily Prizes and Chance to Win Trip to 2008 Tour de France

SAN DIEGO, CAJuly 9, 2007 – For the eighth consecutive year, The Active Network, Inc. (Active), a leading provider of application services technology and marketing solutions for participatory sports and community service organizations, will put cycling fans in the saddle – from the start in London to the finish on the Champs-Elysées in Paris – with its Tour de France blog (tourdefrance.active.com). Featuring expert onsite bloggers, daily video, an interactive course map and chance to win a trip for two to next year’s Tour, Active’s Tour de France blog will offer the most comprehensive, behind-the-scenes coverage of the world’s most famous bike race.

Active’s special event site will serve as a key piece to media collaborator ESPN.com’s Tour coverage and provide in-depth reports of each stage of the 20-day race. Exclusive daily commentary will be delivered by Active’s expert bloggers Martin Dugard, the New York Times bestselling author of “Chasing Lance,” and Bruce Hildenbrand, whose writings have appeared in Bicycling, Outside, Cycle Sport, Velo News and a host of other bicycling and outdoor-specific publications. Additionally, former pro riders and coaches will serve as Active guest bloggers, posting entries and video throughout the race.

Other features to look for as part of Active’s Tour de France blog include the following:

  • Exclusive video covering this year’s grueling course, the local flavor of various French towns and inside interviews with members of Cervélo-backed Team CSC, one of the Tour’s premier squads
  • Back by popular demand, Active will deliver The Daily Tour e-newsletter highlighting up-to-the-minute happenings from every stage
  • Nissan’s Daily Tour Trivia Contest – Fans can test their knowledge for a chance to win daily prizes and a luxury trip for two to the 2008 Tour de France, valued at $7500
  • Etape du Tour – A first in the industry, Cervélo Cycles and Active will team up to present video coverage of the world’s most daunting “Citizens” event—the sensational Etape du Tour, on July 16

Active will host coverage of the Tour de France, from July 7 through July 29, at tourdefrance.active.com. Active’s comprehensive Tour de France blog is made possible by the new Nissan Pathfinder, Cervélo Cycles, Saris and FRS.
