Local Girl Scouts and The Active Network, Inc. Take Camping Online
Thousands of Girl Scouts, parents and volunteers can register year-round for camps via the Web beginning February 1, 2007
SAN DIEGO, CA – January 26, 2007 – Enlisting the help of The Active Network, Inc. (Active), a leading provider of application services technology and marketing solutions for community service and participatory sports organizations, Girl Scouts, San Diego-Imperial Council has made registering online for summer camps, overnight camps and day camps possible.
Beginning February 1, 2007, the 40,000 girl and adult members that the organization serves will be able to visit www.girlscoutssdi.org to register, pay by credit card and receive a confirmation of enrollment for the camps they want to attend.
Every year, close to 3.7 million Girl Scouts across the nation register for camps, and for Girl Scouts, San Diego-Imperial Council, that meant manually registering over 3,000 participants. In an effort to save time, resources and increase the marketability of their many day and resident camps, the Council selected Active to create an online registration center that will serve girls from Fallbrook to San Ysidro and from Point Loma to El Centro.
“The Active Network has allowed us to provide a true partnership with our camp families, opening opportunities for clearer communication and convenient access to our camp program information and registration. We are very excited to share this new resource with our membership and anyone who wishes register for our camps,” said Kathy Quinney, Girl Scouts’ outdoor education manager.
“It is important for us as a company to continually improve and expand our core services to meet the demands of the various organizations we serve,” stated Jon Belmonte, chief operating officer, The Active Network, Inc. “Being able to deliver a tailored online registration solution to satisfy the unique needs of community service organizations like the Girl Scouts, that is also easy-to-use and convenient for parents, volunteers and administrators alike, is what it is all about.”
