Top Counties and Cities Select The Active Network To Help Create Additional Revenue Streams
Active partners corporations and communities through marketing and sponsorship programs
SAN DIEGO, CA – June 18, 2007 – The counties of Santa Clara, CA, and Nassau, Long Island, NY, and the cities of Pittsburgh, PA, and Glendale, CA, have selected The Active Network, Inc. (Active), a company that delivers software technology and marketing solutions for community service organizations, to design and execute municipal marketing and sponsorship programs to build additional revenue streams for their communities.
Active’s two-step marketing approach establishes long-term relationships between communities and companies. These relationships are built to improve the city’s image and create additional business for the city’s corporate partners. The city of Pittsburgh and Nassau County, each in the initial phase, will undergo a thorough analysis by Active to decide what assets, such as parks, logos and administration buildings, they want to market, which categories of assets to target first and which corporate sponsorships are a fit for their community. This analysis is conducted during an extensive 90-day audit.
“Active has developed successful, mutually beneficial partnerships with companies and organizations across the country that has produced alternative revenue sources for both parties. Having the opportunity to utilize their experience and expertise will provide new revenue sources for the city,” said Yasmin K. Beers, deputy city manager, city of Glendale.
Active’s results are presented in a strategic marketing plan that outlines goals, objectives and sponsorship options for the client. Sponsorship options could include opportunities such as beverage and snack concessions in city buildings, official vehicles, a cellular provider, and the naming rights to city properties. The city of Glendale, in the implementation phase, has targeted a sponsorship opportunity that will allow them to provide better services to their citizens. Glendale will utilize their sponsor’s donation to install over 70 bus shelters with corporate signage and more than 30 buses displaying advertisements. Santa Clara County, which is beginning the implementation stage, will utilize the strategic marketing plan and Active’s team to guide them through the negotiation process with various potential corporate sponsors.
“Cities and counties have desires to leverage their assets, image and market presence in ways that reinforce the positive qualities their communities currently enjoy and generate additional income for their communities,” said Alex Barnetson, senior vice president of The Active Network, Inc. “Active creates programs to help these governments achieve this goal without negatively affecting the community’s integrity or environment.”
