Two of Nation’s Largest Cities Choose Technology from The Active Network to Manage Recreation and Parks Operations

San Francisco and Baltimore Select Active’s Software to Improve Organizational Efficiencies and Offer Online Registration for the First Time

SAN DIEGOJanuary 25, 2007 – The cities of San Francisco and Baltimore have chosen The Active Network, Inc. (Active), a company that delivers software technology and marketing solutions for community service organizations, to provide operations management software and hosted technology for their recreation and parks departments. San Francisco, the nation’s 14th largest city, and Baltimore, the nation’s 18th largest city, will use Active’s operations management software to manage daily administrative tasks, such as online program registrations, facility reservations, memberships, league scheduling and payment processing. San Francisco and Baltimore join more than 60 percent of North America’s largest city parks and recreation departments, including Dallas, New York City, Phoenix, Sacramento and Toronto, already using Active’s operations management software.

Using Active’s software, San Francisco’s and Baltimore’s recreation and parks departments will offer community members access to online registration for the first time to view, search, sign up and pay for recreational programs and activities around the clock. The city of San Francisco encompasses 230 recreation and park facilities situated on 3,400 acres of land throughout the City & County of San Francisco. These include neighborhood parks, playgrounds, recreation centers, playing fields, natural areas, tennis courts, golf courses, park stadiums and administrative park offices. Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks will use Active’s fully hosted software solution to automate all business operations for the department’s more than 46 recreation centers, conservatory, five large parks pools, and approximately 6,000 acres of park land and pubic space.
