The Perfect Match – YAVAY Helps Event Directors & Sponsors Find Each Other

Sponsorships are crucial for events—they help offset hard costs and can get you extra visibility that wouldn’t be possible on your own. But it’s not always easy to find and convince businesses to support your event. That’s why ACTIVE has partnered with YAVAY to help make connections between event directors and sponsors. Tips & Tricks
ACTIVE World 2013 User Conference
April 9-11, 2013

Instead of a “how to” for one product feature, this month’s tip/trick is about another way you can get more out of your event management technology: the ACTIVE World user conference.

ACTIVE World is a three-day conference created for our top customers that is unlike anything you’ve attended before. You’ll have conversations that spark ideas. Network with the best in the industry. We want to teach you some things, but we want you to teach us as well. Check out our list of breakout sessions.

The cost to register is $499. Hurry and sign up soon because this early rate expires on March 8th! Register now

Even if you can’t make it to ACTIVE World, you can get more out of ACTIVE Works. Get live product training (it’s free!) – register here.

Gary Jenkins Headshot

Event Director of the Month
Gary Jenkins, Pacesetter’s P.R.

For nearly 35 years Gary Jenkins has been putting together races, most with creative names and themes, such as Joker’s Wild (written up by Runner’s World magazine as one of the top not-to-be-missed racing events) and Animal Scramble. He originally got into the business by helping organize a running club with friends and then founded Pacesetter’s P.R., an Atlanta-based race and event management company that specializes in running and racing events. Gary and Pacesetter’s P.R. currently manage nearly 100 events per year, including the Run and See Georgia Grand Prix, which draws nearly 70,000 participants annually in the 450+ races on the Grand Prix.

Formerly an avid runner and competitive racer himself, Gary is highly respected in Georgia and the southeast and IS known for putting on quality races at competitive prices. He is also the publisher of Georgia Runner Magazine, making him a very busy man.

When asked about the things that make him successful, Gary mentions that he’ll do whatever it takes to get people registered. Anything that gets one more runner signed up will save him time and make his life easier. As part of that philosophy, Gary has worked with ACTIVE since 2002 and refers to the company as “the 800-pound canary, because they do it all.” ACTIVE provides Gary with solid race management software and great event exposure via ACTIVE.com, supporting his mission of getting as many people registered as possible.

Gary also mentions how important social media is when it comes to promoting his events. He says that from a race director’s standpoint, “Facebook is the greatest thing that ever happened” and he highly encourages other events to use it.

Successfully coordinating and executing 100 events a year is no easy task, but Gary Jenkins makes it look easy! Congratulations to Gary on being our February Event Director of the Month.

What’s new
Updates to the ACTIVE On-Site Mobile App

To keep you moving at breakneck speed, we’ve been working on making the ACTIVE On-Site mobile app even better so that you don’t have to slow down on race day. On-Site is now more user friendly with new features that make it even faster to get participants checked in and registered.

What’s new with On-Site:

  • Team Check In. You can now search by team name and check in each team member. Mobile race day registration and check in for individuals (non-teams) is still available (and awesome).
  • Tablet Support. You can use On-Site with iPad & Android tablets. That means all iOS 4.0+ devices (iPhone, iPads) and Android devices will run this app, so you now have an excuse to get another gadget.
  • ACTIVE Credit Card Swiper. The new ACTIVE card swiper plugs right in to your mobile device and it’s free! Contact your account manager or client support to get one.

Click here to learn more about On-Site. Don’t forget that any information processed by the app is tied directly back to your event in ACTIVE Works, so you don’t have to worry about any extra data entry or hassle. This is the first mobile app built specifically for endurance sports so if you don’t have it yet, get it now from iTunes or Google Play!
