Alongside one of our largest customers, we recently launched a newly redesigned Recreation.gov website that enables you to find your ACTIVE in the great outdoors!
Recreation.gov – the online destination for federal recreation powered by ACTIVE Network – has more than 7 million unique visitors and over 1.5 million transactions annually.
Now, visitors can more easily plan trips, find outdoor adventures, and explore America’s most cherished national parks, lands, waters, and historic and cultural sites.
The launch was announced yesterday by U.S. Secretary of the Interior Salazar as part of President Obama’s initiative to fuel the economy and create jobs by promoting travel and tourism. Check out the new website and some of the updated content – Recreation.gov, Explore Trip Ideas, and Go Lists – aimed at getting people ACTIVE.
Beefed up content includes:
- Explore Trip Ideas, with itineraries and interactive maps to help people discover points-of-interests on public lands
- Go Lists, created to encourage more people to get active outside, visit cultural sites and attend events like Day Hikes for Weekend Warriors and Civil War 150th Anniversary: Places and Events that Shaped Our Nation
- Discover Great American Adventures, with in-depth articles and destination spotlights featuring activities, places, events and experiences unique to our nation
ACTIVE Network is the primary service provider for the Recreation.gov initiative. Our ACTIVE Works® technology powers the Recreation.gov website and reservation management solutions that process millions of campground reservations, tour tickets, permits and lottery applications online, on the phone and at federal facilities across the country.
This effort is only the beginning of a multi-year strategy aimed at delivering an enriched customer experience. Expect more enhanced, interactive content, multimedia, mobile and a variety of helpful trip-planning tools to come.
So, what are you waiting for? Get outdoors!
