More than 60 ACTIVE Network employees gathered at dawn in their swim caps at the choppy shores of Lake Ray Hubbard in Rockwall, Texas, to participate in the U.S. Open Triathlon.

For ACTIVE, this event doubles as the ACTIVEx Charity Challenge, the culmination of months of training and “fundracing” to raise donation dollars for Kids in the Game, a national organization that covers registration costs for youth from low-income families to participate in sports activities. Since 2013, ACTIVEx has raised nearly $500,000 and enabled more than 4,500 kids to participate in sports programs and activities entirely through individual employee donations.

For weeks, ACTIVEx director Arch Fuston and his small but mighty team of Kristen Sudela and Mike Dobransky inspired employees to meet a goal of raising $25,000 for Kids in the Game, through on-site bake sales, throw-a-pie-at-your-manager donation competitions and as part of a company-wide, 30-Day-Fundracing-Challenge. And while ACTIVE is no triathlon industry first-timer (our technology powers triathlon events around the world), many of our Dallas-based employees trained and competed for the first time, as newcomers to triathlon participation, with roughly 90% of employee participants competing as first-time triathletes in this past weekend’s 9th Annual ACTIVEx Charity Challenge.

And it’s not over! Though we met our $25,000 fundraising goal, we are continuing fundraising activities in effort to exceed the $25,000 fundraising goal, as every $50 we can raise enables one more kid to register to play team sports.
