On Monday we broke down SaaS and today we’ll talk about CMS. If you work for a recreation organization, here’s what you need to know about content management systems (CMS): Continue reading

What is Software as a Service (SaaS) for Recreation Organizations?

All types of recreation organizations have been doing more with less over the last few years. That trend will continue as budgets remain tight, but service expectations continue to rise. One way to save time and money is with technology, specifically software that can help automate back-office tasks. But organizations have many options when it comes to software ranging from solutions they host themselves to ones hosted by the provider (in the cloud). ACTIVE & Allianz Launch First Ever Race Registration Protector

For years, race directors have called for an insurance product to protect both event directors and race registrants alike in case of unforeseen events, says Sally Smith of Big Sur Events. How big is this problem? Roughly 15% of race registrants never even make it to the starting line because of unforeseen events, like a sprained ankle, says Allianz.

Today, ACTIVE Network and Allianz Global Assistance announced that ACTIVE.com race registrants can purchase Race Registration Protector. During registration, participants will be provided with the option to purchase Registration Protector. With Registration Protector, a participant who misses an event for a covered reason such as an injury, illness, job loss, transportation delays, military/family/legal obligations, and more can get their registration fees reimbursed.

This is the first insurance product of its kind to be offered to registrants in the endurance market. For more information, read the full press release on our website.

Beat the Black Friday Rush: New ACTIVE GearUp™ site launches

And so the countdown begins. Black Friday is only four days away.

Last year, Black Friday accounted for $11.4 billion in sales, an increase in 6.6% from the previous year, and is projected to increase slightly this year says the National Retail Federation (NRF).  Personally, I’ve never braved the lines, the early morning wake up call, the traffic, the crowds – Black Friday shopping isn’t for the faint of heart. I’m not alone. With deals now only a click away, many people are choosing to forego the mad hussle and go online. In fact, NRF expects more than 40 percent of Black Friday weekend spending to be done online this year.

For fitness fanatics on your holiday shopping list, get a jump start on the perfect gift with ACTIVE Gear Up, a new member-only website that combines traditional e-commerce and deal of the day discounts. ACTIVE GearUp will feature merchandise from premium endurance and outdoors brands like New Balance, Zoot, Asics, Giant and 400+ other top brands at a 40-50% discount, with special limited-time offers ranging between 50-70% off.

We’re partnering with LeftLane Sports to help us manage logistics such as buying in bulk, storing merchandise, shipping,  fulfilling orders and managing brand partnerships so we can offer our customers the most competitive deals on the most desired brands.
