Our San Diego TALO II Crew participated in the Encinitas 5K the other weekend as part of their TALO MyPledge 5K Challenge – we did it! Over 20 “TALOsophers” completed the 3.1 miles, some accompanied by friends and families, and all cheered on by screaming fans. As you can see, it was a really special day for some really special people.
Active Network exists in part because people need Activity – our customers need us to help them manage activities and the general public needs an easy way to discover and sign up for those activities. By meeting those needs, we are fueling Activity Everywhere and enabling millions of people to live healthier, more enriched lives. That fuels our company mission and the reason why we do what we do every day.
We are here to make the world a more Active place.
How are we doing this? We work hand in hand with our customers to bring our mission to life and we help support government legislation that promotes health and Activity. We have also developed our Employee Wellness program, ActiveX, to help redefine the way Active Network, as well as other corporations, attract and retain talent. We are now igniting a movement to inspire Activity in local communities and to redefine the way the world gets Active…….join us! Take a read through our Always Active blog to learn how our customers, partners, employees and people all over the world are finding their Active.

With camping’s busiest season approaching, we sat down with our Senior Marketing Manager for Outdoors, Jackie Burns, to chat about her various camping experiences in her home state of Florida. Her stories made us want to pull the plug, pack it up and hit the trails. Read on to hear more about how Jackie found her love for the great outdoors.
What was your most memorable childhood camping adventure?
Some of my all-time favorite childhood memories are camping trips. Two of those trips were to the exact same state campground in the Florida Keys – two very different experiences, many years apart, but equally thrilling and memorable.
Tell us a little bit about your first camping trip.
The first was a family camping trip to Bahia Honda State Park in the Florida Keys with my parents and three brothers – all six of us in a four-person tent! This is where I learned to snorkel, saw my very first shark in the ocean (a foot-long baby nurse shark, but pretty exciting for a kid), swam with barracuda and spotted “spotted morays,” (both more frightening than the shark), discovered a baby octopus that wrapped its tentacles around my fingers, and fished and crabbed for our dinner.
I am seriously excited about the launch of the 2nd annual TALO program here at Active Network. As part of ActiveX, our employee wellness program, nearly 400 Active employees are taking on the 12-week Take A Load Off (or TALO) nutrition behavior program. More than 20 of our offices have participants working hard to acquire the tools to live a healthier, happier life by making a “food-mood connection” through nutrition behavior education, consistent exercising and group support. Last year, we saw many employees change their health trajectories and are living much healthier, more active lives. Awesome.
The culture of Active Network is rooted in the participation of activities. It’s what we champion. It’s what we do. This participation “ethos” has woven itself into the fabric of our company, world-wide. I recently visited our Denver, Avon and Boulder offices earlier this month to introduce them to our ActiveX Employee Participation Program and share with them what I like to call, the ActiveXperience.
