10 ACTIVE.com Mobile Stats to Instantly Change Your Strategy

By 2014, mobile internet usage will surpass desktop internet usage. What does that mean if you don’t have a mobile-optimized website or a mobile app? In fewer than two years, more people will see your website on their phones rather than their computers. This is serious people. Check out some mobile stats.

At ACTIVE Network, we see how quickly mobile is changing the world. On top of that, our goal is to make the world a more active place and going mobile is a natural extension of that. If people can access recreation programs, workout classes, races, events, and more right from their pockets, the world will be more active place. Today, we want to show you our stats in order to show how quickly things are changing:   

ACTIVE.com Mobile Stats:

Mobile is transforming our business in 2012. We have more and more users accessing ACTIVE.com through their mobile devices:

(1) Of the 4+ million visits on ACTIVE.com each month, 24% of those are mobile visits.

 

ACTIVE Mobile Apps:

We’ve developed mobile apps for different sports and activities over the last year. Here are the statistics for each app:

a. Training & Preparation

Our Couch –to-5k® app lays out a simple plan for beginners to run a 5K race, track their workouts, and share progress and results with friends:

(2) 200,000 participants have downloaded the app.
(3) 3,000 5k registrations have been driven.
(4) 700,000 completed workouts have been logged.

 

b) Race Day

For event directors, the ACTIVE.com On-Site app allows participants to register or check in (if already registered) via mobile device. Bibs and waivers are taken care of, data entry is eliminated, and long lines are shortened:

(5) 300 races have downloaded the app.
(6) $16,000 has been processed through on-site registrations.

c) Swimming

Meet Mobile is an app that allows swimmers and fans to view important event information in real time, from one place, no matter where they are. Users can search for swimmers or meets, flag favorites, see real-time results and scores, view heat sheets, and view timelines:

(7) 60,000 swimmers and fans have downloaded since its launch in June, 2012.

d) Recreation and Camping

Users can search by location, date, and more to find campsites at National Parks, Forests and other recreation areas. They can also view campground details and photos, pick the best spot, and reserve the selected spot on the Recreation.gov website or over the phone:

(8) Over 22,000 people have downloaded the app since December, 2011.

e) Golf

The new ACTIVE Network, Golf app is helping course operators get more people out on their greens and promote the sport. This app provides golfers with an easy, quick way to book tee times and receive special discounts or advance tee time privileges. Golfers can check real-time scores and leaderboards, get customized GPS markers for each hole, order food and beverages while on the course, get course updates and news, and share with friends on Facebook:

(9) This app has been downloaded over 6,000 times with hundreds of rounds of golf booked.

f) Tennis

We worked closely with the US Tennis Association as part of our strategic partnership to build a mobile app for tennis players, coaches and fans. Users can search for tennis leagues or tournaments, register and pay for tournaments, and update match scores:

(10) Over 100,000 tennis players, coaches and fans have downloaded the app.

In summary, hundreds of thousands of people have downloaded our mobile apps and we’re relatively new to the game (all of these apps have been developed since 2011). On top of that, around one million people view our mobile website each month and that number is growing quickly.
