DALLAS – July 20, 2015 – ACTIVE Network®, the global leader in cloud-based Activity and Participant Management™ and data solutions, today announced a strategic alliance with Latino Outdoors, a growing community of volunteers looking to “connect cultura and community with the outdoors.” The two organizations will work together to develop ways to identify and increase Latino engagement in the outdoors, with a bold goal of connecting one million new Latinos to outdoor activities in the next five years.
“We have an opportunity to expand the reach of state and national parks and bring new visitors to campgrounds and various outdoor activities, not only within the Latino community, but also within all ethnic organizations. Our goal is to excite them about the outdoors,” said Gary Evans, general manager for Outdoors at ACTIVE Network. “By drawing in new communities, we provide a broader appreciation for our parks and wildlife that has historically translated into more conservation and awareness of natural resources, as well as more people being active in the outdoors. Working with Latino Outdoors and our agency partners is a great first step.”
The Hispanic population has seen a 50 percent increase in the United States since 2000, according to Pew Research Center. There is an opportunity to better serve this rapidly growing community and promote the outdoors, conservation and the environment. ACTIVE Network has a large database of camping, fishing, hunting and other outdoor activities accessible online for easy search and registration. Both organizations offer platforms where people can connect and share outdoor and conservation stories through images, blog posts and more. This encourages more participation and helps grow interest in the outdoors, both across the country and within specific regions of the United States.
