Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department Wins Digital Government Achievement Award Using Technology from Active Community Solutions

SAN DIEGO, CA - December 19, 2005 - Using technology from Active Community Solutions, a leading software and marketing solutions provider to community service organizations and part of The Active Network, Inc., Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department in Raleigh, N.C. was recently recognized with a 2006 Digital Government Achievement Award.

The Digital Government Achievement Awards, sponsored by the Center for Digital Government, the Center for Digital Education, Government Technology magazine and Converge Online, recognize outstanding contributions among government agencies at the application and infrastructure level. Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department achieved the honor in the 'government to citizen category' for the city's launch of RecLink, its online registration service that enables Raleigh's citizens to browse and search recreation programs from the city Web site, register and submit payments online, and check availability for classes and programs, day or night.

Branding the service RecLink, the Raleigh staff used online registration technology from Active Community Solutions to launch the effort. For the staff, the technology has helped eliminate paperwork, reduce administration time and increase efficiency. The department is also using the company's management software to automate administration for program registration and facility reservation.

"Using technology from Active Community Solutions, we've been able to offer greater convenience and a higher level of customer service to our citizens," explained Kellee Brown, marketing administrator at Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department. "Through online registration, we can now provide access 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We're also helping our citizens save time, and even fuel, by allowing them to register from the comfort of their own home."

Using RecLink, citizens can search for programs and classes by keyword, category or course barcode. They can also see how many spaces are still available.

"We're not only offering our community better access to our services, but we can also promote and market our programs through our RecLink site," said Brown. "The technology has given us the ability to provide current, updated information to our community and build our client database."
