How Our Employees Got 2,000 Kids in the Game

Back in August, we shared the launch of our annual Charity Challenge, fueled by the efforts of our internal employee engagement program, ACTIVEx. We promised an update on our final results…and here they are.

On October 16, a gorgeous Sunday morning, we joined up with hundreds of our closest friends at the U.S. Open Triathlon on the shores of the beautiful Lake Ray Hubbard at Rockwall Harbor.

Our goal was to engage as many employees as possible in both race participation and in fundraising for Kids in the Game. Our fundraising goal was $25,000, which would pay the registration costs of sports for 500 kids.

Fundraising efforts included:

  • A 30-day fundraising challenge where employees could win prizes
  • 2 bake sales (Deliciousness provided by Amber Scott, Megan Pischke and Ally Flournoy)
  • Multiple opportunities to pay for a chance to “pie” a manager or director in the face (image: ACTIVEx director Arch Fuston getting a pie to the face.)
  • 3 months of individual fundraising and tri-training

Here’s the final tally:

And the winners are…

Arch puts it best: “The 9th year of the ACTIVEx Charity Challenge wrapped up with 80+ of us on course, racing, cheering, supporting and representing ACTIVE. It’s the most special of days for me, personally, because it highlights our company mission of making the world a more ACTIVE place and [shows the community we are] a force for good.

Our giving impact is massive, with nearly 2000 under-served kids being activated after we wrap up fundraising (since we began working with Kids in the Game). Equally as rewarding is the sense of community formed between us, the support of each other, it’s remarkable. It’s special. It’s the result of pushing ourselves as individuals, with the unquestionable support of each other.”

A good time was had by all and we are super stoked to have met our fundraising goal!
