Each year, NRPA sets out to build a new park or completely revamp an existing space in the city hosting the NRPA Annual Conference as part of its Parks Build Community program.

The initiative’s mission is to demonstrate the transformative value of parks on the health and vitality of communities throughout the country. Many companies and non-profit organizations step up to help make this happen by donating subsidies, services and equipment to the projects.

This year, Catherine Street Park in the heart of Baltimore was completely rebuilt, and ACTIVE Network is extremely honored to be a part of it and to have attended its dedication ceremony on September 23rd.

As a premier sponsor of the project, ACTIVE proudly supports the research efforts of Johns Hopkins University and North Carolina State University’s College of Natural Resources to measure the impact the renovated park will have on its community. On a daily basis, ACTIVE sees how important parks are for the community and was excited to see efforts to truly quantify their impact.

“When we heard about this project, we were really excited to partner with it because it really aligns with bringing businesses and the community together for the common good,” says Scott Lowrie, ACTIVE Networks VP of Customer Success.

Having spent many years providing technology solutions and digital marketing services to the parks and recreation industry, ACTIVE has had a front-row seat to see both the economic and overall community wellbeing impact that parks have. ACTIVE’s mission has always been and continues to be to help parks departments build stronger communities, and that aligns perfectly with the Parks Build Community initiative.

“Working with BCRP and our donors, we share the vision that everyone deserves a great park and we look forward to seeing the impact this project has on the City of Baltimore for years to come,” said Gina Mullins-Cohen, NRPA Vice President of Marketing, Communications and Publications. “We especially want to thank ACTIVE Network for their contribution to the research component of this project that will allow us to further demonstrate the power of parks in communities nationwide.”

Moving forward, ACTIVE is very excited to see the findings of the research into how Catherine Street Park positively impacts Charm City.

In addition to being at the park’s opening, ACTIVE also had the privilege of attending the 2019 NRPA Annual Conference. The team had the opportunity to meet so many outstanding people who dedicate their lives to working in the parks and recreation industry. ACTIVE is honored to work alongside them each and every day.
