How the National Park Service Inspires Visitors to Share Their Experiences

At ACTIVE, we’re excited to play a role in powering the 14th annual Share the Experience photo contest that highlights the best of America’s federal recreation lands from the view of participants. As the leading partner powering recreational reservations, licenses, permits, and registrations nationwide, we proudly support the official photo contest on behalf of the National Park Foundation, the National Park Service the Bureau of Land Management, the Bureau of Reclamation, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, and the U.S. Forest Service.

The 2014 contest just kicked off and gives amateur photographers the chance to capture and submit inspiring images of America’s federal lands, national parks, forests, waterways and historical sites to win cash prizes, outdoor equipment, annual federal recreation passes and hotel packages.

Nearly 20,000 images were submitted in 2013 and the contest had more than 1.7 million photo views, a 10 percent increase over the 2012 contest. Courtney Kotewa won the 2013 contest with an image that was captured using her smart phone during a family outing to the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in northern Michigan along the shore of Lake Superior.

Check out all the stunning photos online, as well as the winners of the 2013 contest at NationalParks.org/PhotoWinners. Participants of the 2014 contest can visit ACTIVE Network-powered sites, Recreation.gov or ReserveAmerica.com to plan a trip for inspiration, and submit photos at ShareTheExperience.org.
